New feature designs for the Lucid Athlete app
Summary
In a team of four designers, we conducted research and analysis to identify and propose new features for Lucid Athlete, focusing on enhancing user engagement and supporting endurance athletes' training goals. Through competitive audits, user insights, and Kano Analysis, we recommended four impactful features designed to improve the app's functionality and user experience.
My Role
Competitive Audit, User Journey Map, Feature Concepts, Kano Analysis, Annotated Wireframes, Prototyping, and Feature Recommendation Report.
Tools
Figma, Miro, FigJam, Google Sheets.
The Client
Lucid Athlete is a new app that aims to support performance-oriented endurance athletes in their training and recovery by analyzing the body's vital signs to estimate true aerobic fitness, recovery, and ability to perform.
They seek to fill the gap of the lack of an affordable, accurate performance monitoring option for endurance athletes.
The Problem
While Lucid is still in the early stages of starting up it needs more to ‘do’ inside the app.
Our goal was to figure out:
What do users want to be able to see and do inside the app?
Analyzing the Competitors
We performed a competitive audit to assess the strengths and weaknesses of competing fitness apps. This helped us identify opportunities that could bring value to the client.

Potential Features for the App
We started with 125 ideas that could be feature concepts.
Through a voting process, it was narrowed down to 13 feature concepts.
We used the Kano Analysis with research participants who are currently testing out the app to better understand their preferences for the features.
We could then begin to answer the question of what they want to see and do inside the app.
After analyzing the results from the Kano Analysis, I decided to focus on these 4 feature concepts:
1. Daily Feeling Check In
2. Body Status Warning
3. Goal Setting and Tracking
4. Process Journal
The feature concept sketches were turned into annotated wireframes to better understand and imagine the proposed features.
Final Deliverable
The annotated wireframes were compiled into a recommendations report for the proposed new features that were presented to our stakeholders.
Reflection
This project reinforced the importance of research-driven design and collaboration in creating meaningful solutions. By leveraging user insights and strategic analysis, we were able to propose features that directly addressed user needs and aligned with Lucid Athlete’s goals. Moving forward, this experience highlighted the value of prioritizing features that balance user desirability, feasibility, and business impact to deliver a more engaging and effective product.
